THE CRYSTALLOGRAPHY OF THE BCC TO HCP (ORTHOHEXAGONAL) MARTENSITIC TRANSFORMATION IN DILUTE Zr-Nb ALLOYS: Part I: Lattice Strain and Lattice Invariant Shear
The Bain strain (homogenous strain or lattice strain), the inhomogeneous shear (LIS) and the rigid body rotation in relation with the martensitic transformation in Zr-2.5%Nb alloy has been calculated. The homogeneous lattice strain has been uniquely determined by invoking Lomer’s criterion and the minimum distortion criterion. Both the minimum strain energy and the minimum distortion considerat...
متن کاملStrain and phonon shifts in GaAs12xPx alloys
We have studied the influence of an in-plane ~001! strain on the energy position of the long wavelength optical modes of GaAs12xPx alloys. These alloys have a two mode behavior. We have observed that the strain-induced shift of the Raman peaks corresponding to the GaAs-like vibration is greater than that of the GaP-like vibration. This result shows that the two modes are not affected in the sam...
متن کاملSimultaneous resonant x-ray diffraction measurement of polarization inversion and lattice strain in polycrystalline ferroelectrics
Structure-property relationships in ferroelectrics extend over several length scales from the individual unit cell to the macroscopic device, and with dynamics spanning a broad temporal domain. Characterizing the multi-scale structural origin of electric field-induced polarization reversal and strain in ferroelectrics is an ongoing challenge that so far has obscured its fundamental behaviour. B...

متن کاملLattice-invariant Topological Properties
The purpose of this paper is to show that an isomorphism between the lattices of all closed sets of two topological spaces induces an isomorphism on the lattices of their zero-sets. This is achieved by showing that any continuous real-valued function on a space X can be transferred to any space latticeequivalent to X. Several topological properties are shown to be lattice-invariant.
